Job Description:A global specialty insurance and reinsurance company is seeking an Assistant Vice President Underwriter Territory Manager, General Casualty, to lead a growing team. This role involves overseeing underwriters specializing in habitational, hospitality, lessor’s risk, real estate and other premises-driven risks. This is a remote position and the successful candidate can be based in Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas or Virginia.
Responsibilities:
Underwrite challenging and complex new and renewal submissions within underwriting guidelines and make sound risk decisions that balance growth and profitability targets.Maintain active involvement in the marketing of Hamilton and the General Casualty Division while working to establish relationships with wholesale brokers.Drive the effective use of technology to produce superior profit and establish a reputation for ease of business with appointed trading partners.Negotiate terms and conditions consistent with our coverage-focused underwriting strategies.Market insurance products through various communications channels and occasional business travel.Establish and monitor key performance metrics to ensure best-in-class operating effectiveness.Maintain underwriting standards and discipline to deliver profitable results.Monitor key metrics and ratios with a focus on efficiency and profitability.Train and mentor new underwriters.Ensure team compliance with applicable letters of underwriting authority and state rules and regulations.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience underwriting general casualty lines.5+ years of experience leading a team.Existing relationships within the wholesale broker community and the demonstrated ability to build effective relationships.Bachelor's degree.CPCU designation or other industry coursework (preferred).
