Overview of the Staff Accountant Position:Ideal Staff Accountant role with a Fortune 500 company that values their employees. Responsible for general day-to-day accounting functions such as month-end and quarter-end close and financial reporting. Ideal background is an accounting professional with 1-3 years of experience in public accounting. CPA or MBA and public accounting experience is a plus.

What will be expected of me as Staff Accountant?Perform accounting functions for general ledger month-end close, including preparation of journal entries, analysis and adjustment of income statement and balance sheet accounts, monthly balance sheet reconciliations and general accounting support.Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.Prepare schedules and support documentation as required by auditors.Prepare monthly results reports for assigned projects and respond to ad hoc requests for analytical support.Prepare periodic comparative variance analysis.Prepare schedules and support documentation as required to complete loan and contract compliance filings.Work closely with teams as necessary to ensure complete accounting, financial reporting, and analysis for group.Assist with the preparation of annual budget plan, analysis, and updating balance of the year forecasts.Validate and reconcile invoice data and research and resolve disputed items.Prepare detailed reports and analysis for settlement related data.Support various other tasks such as regulatory filings and audit requests.Ensure that ISO settlements adhere to all rules and requirements related to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.Research technical accounting issues and prepare accounting memorandums as needed.

What qualifies me for this Staff Accountant position?Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.1-3 years of experience in general accounting and financial reporting, big 4 public accounting a plus.CPA license or MBA is preferred.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Skilled in performing financial and analytical computations.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including knowledge of pivot tables and VLOOKUP.Experience with SAP or similar ERP system preferred.
