Studying technology and its applications is essential to the field.Cornell Information Science scholars can be found on both campuses: in Gates Hall in Ithaca, NY, and at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island, NYC.The Department of Statistics and Data Science's programs utilize Cornell's extensive resources, specializing in areas like statistical science and machine learning.Cornell Tech is a revolutionary model for graduate education that fuses technology with business and creative thinking, bringing together faculty, business leaders, and students in an innovative environment.The university's central IT organization, comprised of Cornell Information Technologies (CIT) and the Office of the CIO, manages the IT infrastructure and provides university-wide services.The OpportunityThe Engineering/Bowers CIS/Tech Campus ITSG Infrastructure team provides systems administration related to data center management, server hardware design, and server operating systems across a complex environment comprising Linux and Windows Servers and VMware virtualization.This role is responsible for administering systems infrastructure, core server applications, and networking and security.Duties and activities include:Design, deploy, and manage production clusters and servers in support of research and instructional needs.Lead architectural functions for testing and implementing solutions using emerging technologies.Integrate advanced compute systems into the existing heterogeneous computing environment.Develop, maintain, and enhance our supported infrastructure.Implement infrastructure solutions in accordance with University Policy 5.10, Information Security.Ensure stability and reliability of Engineering/Bowers CIS/Tech Campus system infrastructure.Mentor and provide on-the-job training for team members.What We NeedRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience with

ten (10) years

managing

Linux servers and clusters .Advanced knowledge of

Linux server administration , including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.Strong knowledge of cloud services and virtualization platforms.Experience in designing and administering Linux and Windows core services.Scripting proficiency and solution design for new platforms.Understanding of advanced interoperability issues.Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Excellent understanding of TCP/IP networking and security issues.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.Strong service orientation and communication skills.University Related Requirements:Experience working with diverse backgrounds and communities.Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting research computing in higher education.Advanced knowledge of Linux utilities and services.Experience in advanced virtualized environments.Experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure).Advanced knowledge of shell scripting and automation.Experience with managing network switches.Experience in designing and managing Linux clustering and job schedulers.Experience with monitoring tools.What We OfferThis position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.Cornell offers comprehensive health care options and generous retirement contributions.Leave provisions include health and personal leave, vacation, and holidays.Educational benefits include tuition-free Extramural Study and Employee Degree Program.Contact Name:
