JOB DEFINITION:

Primary responsibility to maintain the security, care, use and disposal of all medication held by the program, administer medications to patients, conduct basic physical health screenings, and coordinate care between physical and behavioral healthcare providers.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the New York State Department of Education and possess either an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Clinical experience with psychotropic medications and medication assisted therapy, substance use & mental health disorders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct basic physical exams on patients comprising of taking vital signs, measuring weight and height, BMI.

Provide appropriate health teaching.

Provide appropriate referrals as indicated.

Conduct toxicology's on individuals involved with the MRU program.

Conduct home and field visits to provide services in the community.

Conduct Mental Health assessments.

Complete all necessary paperwork in acceptable timeframes.

Accept, register, secure and discard medications in accordance with accepted protocols.

Maintain logs of all medications received in the MRU program.

Act as liaison, in conjunction with the Office Manager, with pharmaceutical companies' Patient Assistance Programs for the purpose of securing medications for clients in financial need.

Review appointment schedules to ensure that program maintains sufficient quantities of injectable psychotropic medications to meet client needs.

Perform the CIWA and/or COWS to assess for appropriateness for ancillary withdrawal outpatient services (mild to moderate withdrawal or persistent withdrawal).

Provide education to clients related to the legal and ethical issues involved in data sharing in order to maximize continuity of care, promote health literacy and confidence, and ensure that information is shared in accordance with an individual's wishes.

Establish a liaison between Agency and other medical and paramedical services used by patients so as to maximize exchange of information and referrals.

Participate in clinical treatment team meetings and support colleagues in order to promote a team-based approach to care.

Complete trainings as required or requested by the agency or its governing entities.

Complete Quality Improvement training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed.

Backup driver for MRU program.

Identify and implement quality improvement trainings and activities as part of professional development goals.

Complete Quality Improvement Training during onboarding and participate in Quality Improvement refresher training as needed.

Ability to cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views and experiences.

Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Health and Safety Awareness: Include any relevant knowledge or experience regarding health and safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.

Other duties as assigned.
