The Records Division of the Anchorage Trial Court is accepting applications for a Court Case Manager 1 (salary range 10).Under general supervision of the Records Division Supervisors, you will perform custodian, exhibit, audio duplication, file retention, and archival research.

Employees working in this job classification will promote to salary range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court.

This Position

This position will make twice daily pickups and deliveries to and from all divisions, judges' chambers, Area Court Administrator, and Clerk of Court offices. Duties will include mass scanning files from Civil, Small Claims, and Criminal scan locations to re-file accordingly, processing incoming and outgoing mail for Trial Courts on a daily basis, opening and screening incoming mail for hazardous material, and picking up new filings from drop boxes in the courthouses.

Court Case Managers are responsible for safely keeping confidential items, sealed items, and other high-risk/sensitive items stored separately from case files, maintaining a computerized index and inventory of items stored by case number, locations, and item code, fill exhibits requests, and return and dispose of items in accordance with administrative bulletins, court orders, and rules of court.

The Records Division reviews and pulls closed and non-active civil, criminal, and small claims files from the shelf according to retention schedule. This includes making archival box numbers, scan labels, and scanning each file to that box number.

This position may lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

You can expect to respond to questions by phone and in person in reference to case files, court procedures, and court rules, process requests for audio from court proceedings for state agencies, attorneys, litigants, judges, court personnel and the public while ensuring the proper documentation is presented prior to making copies and distribution.

The Environment

The Records Division is located in the Nesbett Courthouse in downtown Anchorage. The team includes six Court Case Managers 1. Each employee will receive a private parking pass for the courthouse parking garage. As a Court Case Manager 1, you will become a part of the Anchorage Trial Court helping to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System.

The Work Schedule

Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. depending on the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

Substitution: Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.

Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
