General Summary of PositionResponsible for oversight and overall administration of the Medstar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) Integrated Security System, Trunked Radio System, and Department Digital Audio Recorder. Surveys, installs, maintains and repairs the closed circuit television (CCTV), access control, electronic locking devices, alarm systems and trunked radio system throughout the MWHC facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Recommends, tests, and implements security plans and surveillance techniques for the MWHC campus. Proposes and establishes means to decrease vulnerability of MWHC campus. Develops unique solutions and acts as specialist within the security field.Develops routine maintenance protocol and inspection schedule. Performs testing of alarm devices, locks, batteries for backup, and electronics in the field.Administers and maintains the card access system and database. Defines, monitors, and controls access levels. Issues badges to employees, vendors and contractors when appropriate.Reviews proposed changes to security systems and provides input regarding potential issues. Replaces and/or upgrades existing equipment. Installs or oversees the installation of new security equipment as contracted by departments.Assists with internal investigations when CCTV and/or surveillance is required. Recommends procedures for detecting, reporting and investigating breaches in security.Completes and submits daily reports to appropriate manager regarding all functions of electronic equipment located on MWHC property.Develops and updates electronic security systems orientation for employees. Trains officers on the operation of the CCTV, access control system and all technical functions of the Security Dispatchers Office.Maintains all documentation and service records for the CCTV, and access control systems.Responsible for the upkeep of a Digital Audio Recorder which records telephone extensions in various parts of hospital. Land new extensions and program into system when required. Train end users on functions of recorder and how to copy files for use in disputes. Assist in investigations concerning radio and telephone communications from Security Operations Center when needed.

Minimum QualificationsEducationAssociate's degree in electronics or equivalent training required.

Experience5-7 years of experience in security system, electronics, wiring methods, closed circuit television installation and service, security system design, access control installation and service to include proximity readers as well as insert and swipe readers.

This position has a hiring range of $63,793.60 - $107,411.20.
