What’s yours?Position Overview:The primary function of the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is to effectively manage the day-to-day activities associated with the assigned geographic sales territory. The RSM is directly responsible for the supervision, maintenance and condition of the territory as it pertains to Sales Volume, Growth & Share, Profitability, Pricing, Reporting, Personnel Administration, and Conflict resolution.What you'll doBuild Dealer Alliance Levels - Increase the number of dealers participating in all levels of our alliance programs, specifically concentrating on increasing the number of our Gallery, Showcase, and Centurion dealers. Establish and manage goals for each direct report, target appropriate dealers, and be directly involved in assisting dealers in their decision to become part of the HD Alliance Programs.Key Account Management - Direct involvement in the sales building programs with each “Key-Account” within the region. Manage a goal-setting process and monitor DSM progress toward those goals. Develop strategies with each DSM in the execution of all regional and national marketing programs. Train and assist DSMs in their prospecting activities including how to identify and sell to prospective dealers. Closely related to this will be the need to develop strategies to keep DSMs and dealers focused on the 5 Drivers of Success including advertising, product mix, training and education, program participation, and product displays and sampling.Manage Cost Factors - The RSM will have cost factor approval authority within defined limits. For cost factors less than General Sales Manager (GSM) level, you would be expected to communicate to the GSM the cost factor needed and the justification for lower margins. You would also be responsible for annual cost factor and margin reviews with each DSM. These reviews are instrumental in determining the proper balance for profitability and for sales stimulation.Territory Management - The RSM will coach their direct reports in the management of their districts including routing, coverage and call frequency. Additionally, proper vehicle organization including parts, sampling and cleanliness should be expected of all DSMs. On a monthly basis, the RSM will provide a written evaluation to the GSM of the sales performance in each DSM territory. The evaluation should include your analysis of territory sales increases and decreases and should discuss product mix changes, key dealers, key products and competition among any other key factors. Additionally, plans for performance improvements would be an integral piece of this analysis.Knowledge and Training - The RSM is expected to stay current on HD technology, product changes and enhancements, motorization, installation and home automation, to name just a few. The RSM is responsible to ensure that his or her direct reports are up to date as to professional skills and product knowledge.Discount Management - The RSM is to ensure a proper balance of company profitability, sales growth and market share in the assigned territory.Sales Analysis - The RSM will use available sales reporting capabilities to provide analysis of sales numbers for the assigned territory for the purpose of developing objectives and goals for positive and progressive sales development and growth.Territory Reporting - The RSM will keep the GSM informed of pertinent and relevant activity occurring in the assigned sales territory through weekly and monthly reports completed thoroughly and on time as per the Division standards and requests by the GSM.Conflict Management - The RSM must conduct a thorough investigation to discover facts concerning all significant customer conflicts occurring in the assigned sales footprint. He or she will develop fair and equitable solutions to problems and make recommendations for resolution to our customers and company management.Team Participation - As a critical participant in the supply chain, the RSM will establish and maintain effective relationships with all Hunter Douglas personnel by using fact, tact, and sensitivity to the needs of others.All other responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.Who you areThe RSM’s time is largely unsupervised and requires self-discipline to be productive. Out of town and overnight travel is common for most territories. Judicious use of company expenses within the set guidelines is required.
