Summary:

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.Responsibilities:This position is located in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock, AR.Facilitates team or unit processes by working in collaboration with team members to ensure that tasks, priorities, goals, and achievements are coordinated with management.Responsible for all aspects of operation in their area of specialty including preparation and maintenance of records and reports, analysis of testing methodologies, training, instrumentation, and compliance.Acts as a liaison to other departments of the medical center for the appropriate laboratory specialty.Serves as an expert providing authoritative advice and consultation for more complex tests requiring special knowledge.Advises on various aspects of specialized testing, including the appropriateness of specific tests considering the clinical context.Identifies, defines, and resolves issues associated with complex aspects of data or unique or controversial aspects of testing.Maintains process control through a multifaceted quality assurance program.Prepares reports, maintains records, and provides administrative information.Researches qualitative and quantitative methods in the appropriate laboratory specialty area.Identifies training needs appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory services performed.Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of assorted regulatory agencies such as CAP, JCAHO, AABB, and OSHA.Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, Nights between 7:00pm-6:30am. Tour negotiable upon hire.Requirements:You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.Must be proficient in written and spoken English.Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.Qualifications:Basic Requirements: U.S. Citizenship, English Language Proficiency, Education and/or Experience Combination, Certification.Grade Determinations:

Lead Medical Technologist, GS-11 Experience.Physical Requirements:
