Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)Keck Medicine of USCHospitalLos Angeles, CaliforniaThe Support Coordinator will assist with all aspects of patient care. Responsibilities include coordinating clinic schedules, patient appointments, and follow-ups. The coordinator will answer patient phone calls, verify insurance benefits, prepare charts for clinic visits, and prepare charge tickets. Additionally, the Support Coordinator will manage the scheduling of surgeries and diagnostic testing, send pre-op packets to patients, and assist with office clerical duties.Essential Duties:Greets patients in a courteous and professional manner.Performs all front office functions including check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, financial clearance, and prior authorization requests.Schedules and coordinates surgeries and in-office procedures, ensuring timely scheduling and all medical and financial clearances.Assists with pre-arrival and financial clearance functions including insurance verification and authorization requests.Processes new referrals in a timely manner, obtaining required medical records and scheduling patients in the clinic.Schedules patient's evaluations and diagnostic testing as needed.Provides administrative support to the supervisor including maintaining calendars and scheduling meetings.Notifies patients of upcoming appointments and arranges clinic appointments as requested.Communicates changes with patients and involved personnel.Demonstrates accuracy in entering information into computer systems (Cerner, PBAR).Works with hospital personnel to resolve issues and accommodate patients.Tracks and maintains Refractive procedure volumes and patient visits.Engages strategies to increase patient enrollment for refractive procedures.Assists in translation as needed.Provides phone coverage as needed.Demonstrates flexibility in covering for staff absences.Maintains files and records, oversees office supply inventory, and performs errands.Participates in daily huddles and contributes to discussions.Demonstrates knowledge of Keck Standards of Service and values.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.Preferred Qualifications:1 year of experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting.Knowledge of medical terminology.Familiarity with word processing, IDX, Cerner, PBAR, and scheduling software.Required Licenses/Certifications:Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already certified.The hourly rate range for this position is $22.00 - $34.18.
