The Manager of Quality Assurance ensures that food safety standards are met, aligning with regulatory requirements and company policies. This role is responsible for implementing, auditing, assessing, and training food safety and quality management systems within the assigned CSC. The position also oversees the deployment and ongoing execution of the food safety preventive controls program, including policies, SOPs, Hazard Analysis, HACCP plans, prerequisite food safety programs, traceability and recall processes, allergen programs, and associated records.Main Accountabilities

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and other relevant federal and local regulations, as well as corporate and regional food safety and quality standards. Take appropriate corrective actions when needed.Food Safety Management:

Oversee the FDA FSMA preventive controls program, ensuring its effectiveness and the maintenance of proper records.Technical Expertise:

Provide expertise in HACCP, food safety, sensory evaluations, and quality assessments.Program Assessments:

Conduct monthly assessments of the food safety program to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.Microbiological Testing:

Perform routine microbiological testing as outlined in the food safety program.Document Analysis:

Review and analyze weekly food safety documents, including HACCP logs, to ensure adherence to standards.Inspection Readiness:

Support CSC leadership in inspection and audit readiness, providing coaching before, during, and after external inspections and audits related to food safety, quality, and sanitation.Pest Control Supervision:

Manage pest control programs, including oversight of contract services and suppliers related to food safety.Investigations and Reporting:

Lead investigations into food safety matters, supporting CSC management in providing detailed information to customers and stakeholders.Quality Assurance:

Conduct periodic checks on products and services to ensure they meet quality standards.Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with Operations, Production, Sales, HR, the Regional Quality Team, and other quality managers to ensure the sustainability of food safety programs.Stakeholder Relations:

Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities.Reporting

Data Management:

Monitor and prepare reports for the food safety and quality management system, including the insertion of required data into the company’s web-based portal.Documentation:

Collect and monitor food safety and quality documents, including environmental monitoring, sanitation verifications, and equipment handling records. Ensure manuals and documentation are updated and new procedures are implemented promptly.Leadership

Participate in and support company-sponsored initiatives such as Global Quality Standards (GQS), HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, and Employee Safety programs.Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.Certifications:

Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and HACCP certification.Experience:

A minimum of five years of experience in food safety roles, with at least two years in a management capacity.Technical Proficiency:

Expertise in food microbiology, food chemistry, food safety, and food regulations.Regulatory Knowledge:

In-depth understanding of government regulations related to food processing, including FDA FSMA, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), HACCP regulations, and USDA standards.Analytical and Leadership Skills:

Strong analytical abilities and proven leadership skills, with a collaborative approach that inspires and respects people.Communication and Organizational Skills:

Exceptional verbal, written, and organizational skills, with a capacity for multitasking.Technology Proficiency:

Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs, cloud-based systems, and the use of technology such as scanners, tablets, printers, and copiers.
