Assistant Financial Accountant

at St John WA, you will be at the heart of ensuring our financial systems run smoothly, allowing us to continue our life-changing work across the community. Your role in processing journals, reconciling accounts, and supporting financial reporting will be pivotal in helping us meet our goals and make a real difference in the lives of Western Australians. Every task you complete, from ensuring accurate GST/BAS submissions to maintaining financial records, will directly contribute to the continued success of our mission.Beyond the numbers, you will play a key part in supporting the treasury, month-end processes, and annual audits, helping us remain financially strong and focused on what matters most: serving the people. Your dedication and attention to detail will directly support St John WA's ability to continue its life-changing work for the people of Western Australia.What you’ll do:Ensure all records are maintained efficiently and accurately.Respond to financial enquiries within a reasonable timeframe.Assist and support the Fixed Assets processes of the organisation.Support the External Reporting team by efficiently cross training in other tasks of the team.Contribute to the month-end process and ensure accruals, prepayments, and financial information are accurately reflected.Support the annual audit process and the preparation of financial statements.Complete monthly reconciliations within specified timeframes to support the monthly reporting requirements of the finance team.What you’ll need:Relevant qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping (or working towards one).1-2 years of experience in a similar role (accounting or bookkeeping).Background in corporate, health, community or commercial based sectors.Knowledge of GST and FBT compliance requirements.Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Previous experience with accounting systems and processes.What’s in it for you?The successful candidate will be offered an interactive and supportive working environment within a positive and professional team along with:$550 Health and Wellness reimbursement17.5% leave loadingCompetitive remuneration packageSalary packaging optionsFree emergency ambulance coverFree first aid trainingAre you ready to change lives?To apply for this exciting opportunity please select
