Job Description:
This is technical services work performing difficult and moderately complex engineering duties in a variety of lab, field, and office engineering specialties in our Concrete & Structures Testing Section at the MaineDOT Central Laboratory in Bangor, Maine.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Safely working with a small team to perform primarily compressive strength testing of concrete and related tests.
Coring of pavement and concrete from roadways and bridges for testing.
Lab equipment maintenance/calibration.
Data entry and related activities.
Certification with the American Concrete Institute as a Concrete Strength Testing Technician desired.
Candidates without certification will be trained with the expectation of becoming certified within 2 years of hire. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate semi-skilled personnel performing testing activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be minimally qualified for this position, candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Five (5) years of experience in engineering – OR – an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering – OR – a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
