Title:
Payroll Accountant I
Location:
Downtown San Diego - One day a week onsite
Salary:
$60-70k + Bonus
Description:
This role focuses on supporting the accounting functions related to payroll, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll records and contributing to the overall financial reporting process. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and a desire to grow within the field of accounting.
Responsibilities:
Accounting Support:
Assist in maintaining accurate payroll-related accounting records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations.Account Reconciliation:
Perform reconciliations of payroll accounts, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded and discrepancies are addressed promptly.Journal Entries:
Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with accounting standards.Financial Reporting:
Contribute to the preparation of payroll-related financial reports, including budget vs. actual analysis and other ad-hoc financial reports as needed.Tax Compliance:
Assist in the preparation and filing of payroll-related tax returns, including quarterly and annual tax reports.Internal Controls:
Support the development and maintenance of internal controls related to payroll to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud.Audit Preparation:
Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries related to payroll and accounting records.Policy Adherence:
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations concerning payroll and accounting.
Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related fieldPrior payroll accounting experienceInsurance industry experience is preferred
