Sign on Bonus AvailableJOB SUMMARY:The Blood Bank Coordinator provides general operational oversight of the area of responsibility under the direction of the Director of Laboratory Services. This role requires advanced practical and theoretical skills to perform, evaluate, and determine the reliability of test results and procedures. Under the Director's guidance, the coordinator is responsible for compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements, including but not limited to AABB, FDA, CA-DPH, JCAHO, CAP, and OSHA. The coordinator serves as a role model and mentor for teamwork and positive colleague interaction, providing training and education for laboratory employees, students, residents, fellows, and other staff. Technical competence and good judgment are essential, as errors could result in serious consequences for patients. The coordinator meets budget expectations for the assigned cost center, documents any variances and non-conformances, and reports those meeting requirements directly to the FDA (BPD reporting). Additionally, the coordinator develops the annual capital and operating budget for the supervised section and identifies opportunities for operational efficiencies to save costs for the organization.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to the position- 5 years of experience as a Clinical Lab Scientist- At least 4 years of experience in Blood Banking and 2 years in supervisory work- Excellent problem-solving skills- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access Database- Self-motivated and team-focused- Area of study in Biology, Chemistry, or other Science- Must have an ASPC certification; a specialist in Blood Banking (ASPC SBB) is preferred.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Master’s Degree- Knowledge and experience with Mediware HCLL Transfusion System, EPIC, and EPIC Billing- Knowledgeable in business practices and marketing.The expected hiring range for this position is $48.03 to $66.05.Rady Children’s Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable.
