Position Description:
Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Chief of Emergency Response to join the Safety and Health group at Carlin Mines.
Responsibilities:
Emergency Response Team (ERT) training and equipment needs assessments
Maintaining site emergency response equipment and facilities
Coordinating site emergency preparedness training and readiness
Surface/Underground team rescue training plans
Ensuring maintenance of Emergency Medical Services training plan, certification, licensing, and permitting
Compliance with Emergency Response regulatory requirements at the corporate, local, state, and federal levels
ERT budget development and management
Evaluating with site management the training needs for emergency services personnel and building those requirements into an annual training schedule
Participate in Formal and High-Level Risk Assessments
Assist site supervision with area Safety and Health Inspections/Audits
Plan and execute regular trainings
Maintain team member files/records always available for State/MSHA review
Ensure the emergency response team (ERT) members are physically compliant per CFR
Seek out and act on personal development and education opportunities
Bring to the attention of the site Senior Leadership as soon as practical any deficiencies to the site Emergency Response Plan that exposes the site to unacceptable risk
Develop, review, and revise site Emergency Response Plan and incident pre-plans annually or as needed
Ensure that a competent person is designated as responsible for the Sr. Coordinator’s duties while he/she is off site and out of the area
Communicate and maintain relations with outside or third-party emergency response services that may respond to assist with site incidents
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Five (5) years of active participation on an Underground/Surface ERT
preferred
Ability to be self-directed and work with minimal supervision
required
MM- Metal/Non-Metal MSHA certified instructor (SI- Surface Instructor, UI- Underground Instructor, and/or MR- Mine Rescue Instructor) or the ability to obtain certification within one (1) year
required
Nevada State EMT/AEMT certification or obtain within two years
required
EMS Instructor endorsement or obtain within two years
preferred
Experience in training, scheduling, and presentations
preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills
required
Excellent computer skills
required
Exemplary safety performance
required
Demonstrated ability to perform all essential functions of this role
required
