POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing daily care to facility residents. The Registered Nurse functions as the primary liaison between residents and community staff. In addition to resident care, this individual is responsible for other clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. This person must convey a positive image of the facility and must have a genuine caring for, and interest in, working with elderly people. The Registered Nurse must ensure compliance with Bellaview Assisted Living's quality standards and with State and Federal regulations. This individual must be highly organized and possess outstanding interpersonal skills with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. The Registered Nurse works closely with the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director to ensure the needs of the residents are in the forefront and met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Registered Nurse is responsible for carrying out the primary duties as outlined by the owner of Bellaview Assisted Living. These essential functions include, but are not limited to:

Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with employees, residents, residents’ families, visitors, and coworkers in a professional and confidential manner.

Be familiar with the Bellaview Senior Living policies and procedures as well as the Utah State Health Department regulatory requirements for assisted living facilities.

Perform new resident assessment prior to admission and direct the creation of a new service plan upon moving into the facility within 7 days of admission.

Perform resident reassessments every 6 months and upon significant change.

Evaluate significant changes of residents and communicate any changes to the Executive Director for review.

Update service plans as needed by getting input from staff and other providers.

Have a continuous understanding of all residents’ conditions and provide instructions or recommendations for ongoing resident needs to the Healthcare Staff.

Review home health and hospice service plans to ensure alignment with current treatment.

Review resident behavior or care adjustments in the communication log.

Request updated service plans when changes occur and sign off on all service plan updates.

Meet with Healthcare Staff and Administrators monthly for a Quality Assurance Meeting.

Attend staff meetings and train staff on issues regarding recent Incident/Accident reports and Medication Error Reports.

Designate in writing staff to administer medication and provide training to all Med Techs.

Help monitor the MAR’s (medication administration record) for accuracy.

Be available for consultations with employees, residents, or resident family members.

Communicate accurate and pertinent information to facilitate effective resident care.

Provide informative written and oral correspondence to the Management Company.

Make informative decisions and educate staff on major changes to policy.

Apply problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Work to establish a group culture to enable Bellaview Senior Living to function as a whole.

DUTIES

The community Registered Nurse is expected to perform position-related duties that include, but aren’t limited to:

Residents

Abide by the Bellaview Senior Living Medication Policies and State of Utah Statutes.

Train staff on proper medication and wound treatment.

Sign off medication changes within 48 hours of the change.

Sign off on all incident reports within 72 hours.

Review all narcotics logs and verify signature pages.

Verify medication setup within 24 hours of arrival.

Document medication errors on Medication Error Report.

Perform medication retraining after medication errors.

Dispose of expired and unneeded medications with permission from families.

Regulatory and Legal

Administer the facility's policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with policies relating to blood-borne pathogens, hazard communication, and infection control.

Assist during a state survey or other in-house inspection of records.

Other

Assist the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director as needed.

Develop professional skills through continuing education opportunities.

Complete full orientation upon hire.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Essential Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

One year of management experience in the elderly care field.

CPR certified and first aid certification.

Current RN License.

21+ years of age.

Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of the assisted living care industry.

Punctual and dependable.

Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.

Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Demonstrate organizational capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience in an assisted living facility.

POSITION ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the ability to manage a diverse group of individuals. Physical demands include moving light equipment and supplies, and operating office equipment. Lifting on a regular basis, up to twenty-five pounds, is required. Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to fifty pounds is also required.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
