This role will leverage your clinical expertise, operational knowledge, communication skills, leadership abilities, and problem-solving aptitude to enhance our exceptional medication safety practices.Join our seasoned administrative and medication safety team in a progressive, innovative pharmacy environment. You'll have the opportunity to teach and precept at our highly ranked College of Pharmacy.Medication Safety and Quality Responsibilities include:Provide direction for the safety of the organization's medication use system.Coordinate medication system monitoring program for the ordering, distribution, administration, and monitoring of medications at UI Health.Design, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of process improvements related to the medication use process.Review medication error/adverse drug event literature to proactively address potential issues.Review voluntary error reports to identify potential system improvements and educational needs.Participate in or lead root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), or other structured safety analysis.Ensure the development of new or revision of existing medication-related policy and procedures.Provide medication safety information for inclusion in newsletters and other educational efforts for staff education.Provide medication safety in-services to UI Health staff.Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to design and update workflows related to the medication use process.Participate in departmental and system-wide compliance activities.Promote situational awareness of medication safety risks and support adherence to safe workflow expectations.Oversee the development/assessment of a pharmacy quality program.Assess departmental compliance with quality indicators through review of audits.Participate in audit and indicator periodic review and revise, add and delete audits or indicators.The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) include:Provision of didactic lectures.Precepting entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents, and PGY2 residents.Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications.Serving as a mentor for pharmacy resident seminars, research, and/or quality improvement projects.Required Qualifications:PharmD from an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program.Illinois pharmacist license as a Registered Pharmacist or eligibility for an Illinois license.Completion of PGY1 residency and 3 years of clinical or operational experience
