Posted Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 4:00 AMPosition Summary:Responsible for maintaining the overall operations of the CompuNet-managed laboratory at Wayne HealthCare facility, including specimen collection, processing and testing.Essential duties and responsibilities:Manage the hospital technical and lab support departments, in concert with CompuNet’s mission, vision and values to meet both business objectives and customer expectations, while assuring the timely and economical provision of quality laboratory services.Provide direct supervision and daily leadership to the lab staff.Utilize the departmental staffing plan to provide daily schedules, work assignments, and time to complete special projects.Review timekeeping system data on a regular basis, submit completed payroll records on time, manage department overtime.Assist in the development and management of the department budgets, both operating and capital. Review monthly operating budget variances for opportunities.Select, evaluate, and develop staff. Ensure all training/orientation and competency documentation is complete and available.Provide direct supervision and mentoring of all staff in concert with the company vision and mission to meet business objectives and customer expectations. Prepare fair and unbiased corrective action for staff when necessary.Provide clear, consistent communication to staff through regularly scheduled meetings, memos, bulletin boards and personal communication.Implement departmental compliance, ergonomic, and safety procedures as needed based on company policies; ensure departmental compliance with all company and facility regulatory policies and procedures.Coordinate departmental quality assurance activities, perform the regular review of quality control records, collect pertinent data, troubleshoot issues that affect workflow or operations, facilitate improvement activities.Facilitate communication with internal and external customers, specifically Emergency Department physicians and nurses, other facility physicians and their office staff; support and promote all customer satisfaction initiatives. Evaluate customer satisfaction.Write, revise and implement technical and departmental procedures consistent with the CompuNet Quality Program to ensure that the laboratory meets the requirements of CLIA’88.Assist with the selection of instruments and methodologies, oversight of method validation and verification studies, and monitoring of test performance.Ensure adequate inventory of supplies to meet the needs of the facility.Resource other testing departments as needed with method verification protocols, instrument selection, verification and interfacing, reference range calculations, etc to fulfill the requirements of CLIA ’88.Manage the Engagement Survey results to ensure issues are addressed and resolved. Work to engage the staff by sharing results and including them in planning sessions and action plan implementation.Ensure readiness for accreditation and inspection visits by regulatory agencies; provide oversight of required internal and external proficiency testing.Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization by communicating company and department goals and promoting activities to achieve current metrics.Participate as part of the CompuNet Management Team, attending appropriate meetings and participating in various committees and teams as needed.Perform routine technical work, advanced/specialized testing or any other duties assigned or needed.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (Medical Technologist).Minimum of five years of demonstrated success in positions of progressively increasing responsibilities in a clinical laboratory.Demonstrated leadership and customer service skills.Sound reasoning ability and independent judgment.Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables.Excellent communication and people skills.CompuNet offers a full benefits package including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
