Reach for the Stars Childcare and Preschool is seeking a passionate educator to fill the role of Program Director. We are seeking a strong leader who will oversee the implementation of the RFTS mission to offer children and families a safe community to learn and grow. RFTS is a licensed, four-star childcare center in Essex Jct., providing high quality care and a “home away from home” for children six weeks of age through six years of age.RFTS is a welcoming community that values supporting children’s growth and development based on their individual needs while building lasting relationships with our families. We offer play-based learning through emergent curriculum, allowing children to be the leaders of their education and exploration. The ideal candidate is someone excited about the opportunity to lead and be a part of the future growth of our diverse community of families and teachers.We are looking for a goal oriented, organized, multitasker with leadership skills that include:The ability to build positive relationshipsEnthusiastic & fun lovingCompassionate, empathetic, and strong role model for children and adultsAbility to work independently, as well as with a teamExcellent written and spoken communication skillsTeam oriented - flexible & reliableAt least one year of experience working with young childrenRequirements

Preferred Qualifications:Qualified as a teacher at least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level 4 A or B certificateOr at least a bachelor degree from an accredited college with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Special Education, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, and shall have at least an additional 24 months of experience working with groups of children from grade three or youngerOr at least a bachelor degree from an accredited college with successful completion of thirty college credits with an early childhood or school age focus and at least 12 months experience working with groups of children from grade three or youngerOr hold at least a current Vermont Agency of Education teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Elementary EducationSuccessful completion of either:A Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program Director Step Two Certificate or Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program Director Credential, Step Three; orSuccessful completion of a three college credit course in curriculum, and an additional nine college credits in program management, staff supervision, administration, or human resource management.Benefits
