Job Summary/Basic FunctionsReporting directly to the Vice President & University Counsel, the Director of Equal Opportunity and Title IX & Compliance Coordinator leads the effort to prevent discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct on campus, while also fostering a culture of belonging and respect. The Director develops University-wide policies and practices related to Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity obligations and serves as the Title IX and Compliance Coordinator for the University. The Director coordinates, plans and oversees all of the functions and activities of the Office of Equal Opportunity and the implementation of and compliance with all Title IX requirements, including partnering with Athletics on the application of Title IX to Intercollegiate Athletics as well as assisting the Title IX Coordinator at Model Laboratory School, as needed, with implementing applicable law and policy at the K-12 level. The incumbent will have significant oversight of and responsibility for Discrimination and Harassment policy review and revision, staying abreast of all appropriate regulations, specifically including Title IX, Title VI, and Title VII. Additionally, the Director coordinates or supports larger compliance initiatives across multiple units at the University, including compliance with the Clery Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), state and federal data privacy and security laws, and Title IV, among others.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:A Juris doctor or Master's Degree or PhD with an emphasis in Human Resources, Public Administration, Sociology, Organizational Psychology or other related fields is required.

Experience:A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a legal, student conduct, student life, human resources, law enforcement, regulatory compliance, or similar field. Must have experience in conducting investigations, preferably related to Title IX or other discrimination and harassment laws. Must have a working knowledge of HIPPA, FERPA, Title IX, the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Must have demonstrated experience in planning and leading training initiatives.

Licensure & Certifications:Professional training, experience, and/or certification involving informal and formal resolution and investigation of complaints is preferred. Compliance certifications a plus. License to practice law in Kentucky is preferred.

30% - Oversees and coordinates investigations, responses, and resolutions to complaints from faculty, staff, students involving allegations of harassment, discrimination and/or retaliation. - (Essential)

20% - Serves as the HIPAA Privacy Officer and oversees HIPAA and privacy compliance for HIPAA designated entities on campus. - (Essential)

15% - Monitors trends and developments in harassment, discrimination and Title IX law and policy, ensuring that institutional policies and practices remain compliant with ever-evolving standards, and makes periodic recommendations for improvement. - (Essential)

10% - Provides vision and direction for a comprehensive training program for the University's Discrimination and Harassment policies. - (Essential)

10% - Provides leadership, oversight, and visioning for the Equal Opportunity Office and overall University compliance initiatives. - (Essential)

10% - Serves as the designated Title IX Coordinator. - (Essential)

5% - Support the office functions and efficient operations of the University by completing other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
