Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Network Engineer – Network Security Engineer III (24-135) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in the Colorado Springs, CO, area.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier globally and regionally. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The candidate will be a primary Network Security Engineer supporting the C2BMC Program. Will plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network and operational sites. Must independently research different networking and security-related topics and produce reports on the findings. Required to make sure that the teams’ devices are STIG's and hardened appropriately. Along with running all Cyber protocols needed.

Essential Functions:

Intermediate knowledge of security design, development, and testing methodologies.

Experienced in the application of standard DOD security practices such as STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation efforts.

Able to thoroughly document project design and development efforts.

Able to collaborate with other departments to explain network security requirements and compliance.

Able to learn security hardening basics for a wide range of niche products, software, and applications.

Able to summarize, brief, and recommend solutions to security issues to leadership.

Understand the basics of VMware and ESXi STIGing/Hardening

Basic Qualifications:

An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

5 years with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 9 years experience in lieu of a degree.

Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)

Must understand the OSI Model, TCP/IP, VLANs, and UDP Multicast.

Must have Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto firewall configuration knowledge.

Must know about the ACL design and function.

Must have hands-on experience with multi-vendor switching/routing (Juniper, Cisco).

Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.

Must be able to design security configurations and testing procedures.

Must be familiar with the NIST CVE framework.

Must have experience with virtualization.

Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network and system engineers.

Must be able to travel to alternate work locations, such as Schriever Space Force Base, Alaska, Guam, Europe, etc., to execute job duties such as deployments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.

Scripting knowledge of Python, Ansible, and PowerShell is desired.

A solid understanding of JUNOS is desired.

Prior C2BMC experience is desired.

Salary Range:

$88,600 - $133,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
