Core Duties:Laboratory Operations Management:Coordinate and manage day-to-day laboratory activitiesEnsure compliance with safety protocols, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirementsMaintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipmentImplement new programs, tests, methods, and instrumentationManage lab personnel daily duties, including training and performance managementFoster a collaborative and productive work environmentSchedule and assign employees based on lab operational needs
Research Project Coordination:Oversee the planning, initiation, and execution of research projectsMonitor progress and ensure adherence to timelinesCollaborate with principal investigators and other stakeholdersMaintain medical laboratory productivity by monitoring the workload of functional areas
Budget Management:Develop and manage the laboratory budgetAllocate resources efficiently and seek cost-saving opportunities
Quality Control and Assurance:Achieve quality results by participating in the hospital quality assurance programImplement and maintain quality control measures for experiments and data collectionEnsure compliance with good laboratory practices (GLP) and other relevant standardsAdhere to specimen preparation procedures
Equipment Maintenance:Establish quality standards to maintain medical laboratory equipment performanceCoordinate the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipmentTroubleshoot equipment issues and arrange for repairs or replacements as needed
Data Management:Implement data management systems and protocolsIdentify informational needs to manage medical laboratory information systemsEnsure data integrity, security, and compliance with privacy regulations
Collaboration and Communication:Facilitate communication among laboratory members and with external collaboratorsFoster a culture of open communication and collaboration
Grant and Proposal Support:Prepare grant applications and research proposalsTrack and manage grant funds and expenditures
Professional Development:Stay informed about advancements in the field and emerging technologiesSupport the professional development of laboratory staffComply with state and professional continuing education licensure requirements
Environmental Health and Safety:Promote and enforce adherence to safety protocols and proceduresCoordinate with environmental health and safety officers to ensure compliance
Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of laboratory activitiesPrepare reports for senior management or funding agencies
