Our client, a leading Life Insurance carrier is looking to add a Senior Life Underwriter to their growing team.This position will be ON-SITE (hybrid) in Des Moines, Iowa.Role & Responsibilities:
Total case management of all applications assigned.Reviewing applications, examinations, laboratory and other test results, medical and financial records, all documents required to comply with state and federal regulations and determining suitability.Working independently, with support from the assistants, but also may consult with other underwriters, Medical Director, reinsurance companies and experts in other disciplines such as accounting and legal.Adhere to department policies and procedures and comply with government regulations.Key Skills:
5+ years experience as a life underwriterCompetent ability to comprehend and interpret insurance and contract documentsAdvanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledgeAbility to mentor and trainAdvanced negotiating and persuasion skillsPreferred:Previous mentoring/ and or coaching training is a plus!Familiarity with Accelerated Underwriting and interpreting underwriting data is desirable.FLMI, FALU and CLU designation(s) preferred (or currently working towards).
