This position at times requires travel within York Region for training or meetings.
Position overview:
The Manager of Human Resources works with employees and managers to effectively administer human resource programs in collaboration with the Director, Human Resources. This role is responsible for recruitment by developing talent acquisition and onboarding strategies. This position also drives the agency's talent management and development initiatives by identifying and assessing the current and future needs of the organization in alignment with the overall strategic plan. The Manager of Human Resources drives the development of an organization that values an inclusive culture where all employees can leverage their strengths.

Working as the Manager, Human Resources your key responsibilities include:
- Developing and administering recruitment strategies for vacant roles
- Preparing and ensuring completion of documentation related to hiring and onboarding
- Coordinating the onboarding of new employees, including ensuring enrolment in Benefits and Retirement Savings Plans
- Updating and ensuring the data integrity of the HRIS system (ADP) ensuring all employee records and certifications are up to date and compiling reports as required
- Coordinates the performance management process
- Processes leaves of absence, mandatory training sessions and WSIB claims
- Conducts exit interviews
We are looking for an exceptional individual who has:
- Experience in interpreting and applying human resource policies and processes in Recruitment, Training and Development, Benefit administration and Performance Management.
- Thorough knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other applicable laws.
- Understanding of risk management protocols
- Effective priority setting and decision-making skills and the ability to meet deadlines and accommodate competing demands.
- Excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound professional judgment in conflict management.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage group processes and group dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of computer software to generate and exchange information. Knowledge of HRIS systems, preferably ADP.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member to achieve outcomes and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Awareness and appreciation for the dynamics of equity issues (diversity, accessibility and inclusion) especially as it relates to gender, ethnicity, race, and economic status.
- Solution focused problem-solving skills.
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
Here is what you will need:
- A college diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or equivalent level of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years' progressive experience performing various HR functions.
- CHRP or CHRL professional designation preferred.
- Identification with the strategic mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Must possess a clear vulnerable sector screen.
