Music Director ResponsibilitiesPlaying musical portions of the service and accompanying/conducting choir.Selecting music, learning, practicing or reviewing it, determining organ registrations, setting them up and practicing for effectiveness.Selecting, planning and practicing hymn accompaniments and appropriate settings for sections of the service.Maintaining manual and pedal dexterity by regular practice on the organ and other instruments.Attending or leading choir rehearsals, rehearsing with other musicians or soloists and preparing for such rehearsals.Selecting new organ/piano compositions to meet the special and changing needs of the services.Supervising maintenance of the organ and piano by working with trained and qualified professionals.Maintaining music library.Consulting with pastor and families for weddings and funerals.Auditioning and engaging soloists and instrumentalists for designated services.Recruiting, training, directing choirs for regular and special services.Examining new music of various publishers and selecting suitable materials.Rehearsing choir before each service.Coaching choir members.Preparing, learning accompaniments or working with appropriate instrumentalists.Arranging for substitutes during times of absence.Job Type:
