Position Summary

The EMS Education and Credentialing Specialist will provide support to ASOEMS in executing oversight and coordination of AF Emergency Medical Services (EMS) credentialing across 76 Medical Treatment Facility (MTFs), 89 GMUs and 180 fire Departments, ensuring that over 28,000 medical emergency providers maintain their readiness capabilities.The goal of this office is to ensure safe and reliable pre-hospital care is rendered to 2.6 million beneficiaries.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform EMS Credentialing Services to support AFMED/SG3OE.Duties include but are not limited to:Assist and consult Aerospace Medical Service (4N) career field managers and 12 MAJCOM functional managers on EMS training and certificationAssist with implementation of AFMS policies/directives as directed by the AFSOEMS DirectorEnsure all 168 training sites which support 18K personnel, six (6) Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSCs) are compliant with all Air Force Instructions (AFI), Department of Defense Instructions (DoDI), Career Field Manager Policy letters IAW NREMT guidelinesAssist in managing the Paramedic Program and other associated Unfunded Requirements (UFRs) related to AFMS EMS activities, by coordinating the preparation of students to attend the training programAssure the AF EMS Program maintains national credibility by following NREMT policies and procedures regarding EMT and Paramedic certification, testing and continuing educationInvestigate and provide guidance on corrective action, immediately upon notification, on all incidents of impropriety to include any violation of public trustFunction as a liaison to the Board of Directors for NREMT when the COR is unable to attend the NREMT board meeting.Attend the NREMT board meetings when applicableReview AF NREMT test data pass rates; investigate adverse trends in high failure rates; recommend and monitor corrective actions after initial EMT/Paramedic testing of each site having evaluated instruction and adjusted to bolster low pass ratesReview/approve all AF EMT continuing education units greater than two (2) hours IAW NRMET policy and develop outreach continuing education opportunitiesUpdate NREMT database to facilitate recertification for all members who affiliate with the AF EMS system-EMT or paramedicAssist in the development of 4N0X1 Career Field Education and Training Plan (CFETP) and Qualification Training Packages (QTP)Manage and coordinate NAEMSE training for Instructor candidates. Coordinate training schedules and attendance requirementsProvides the CFM with quarterly updates on state of the AF EMS and provides oversight of AF EMT Protocols to include initial coordination on all EMS related waivers.Provide a Quarterly Update IAW CDRL A004 and corresponding DIDCollaborate with AF FES and EMS working group via teleconference on EMT certification and sustainment of all AF Fire Department personnel IAW timetable of DoDI 6055.6, DoD Fire and Emergency Services ProgramPerform "other duties as assigned" by the government deemed necessary for program successEducation & Experience Requirements

Three (3) years' experience with current NREMT EMT, AEMT, Paramedic certification (active/inactive) acceptedBasic Life Support (BLS-Instructor and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Certification is highly desirableMust have completed a program in EMS instruction methodology with the National Association of EMS Educators, Army/AF or state equivalent (or must be able to complete within six (6) months of assignment)Must have current knowledge of pre-hospital emergency care, in the techniques and methods of adult education, and managing resources and personnelExperience and knowledge of the Defense Travel System and Joint Travel Regulations are highly desirableMust pass a Tier 1 (T1) government investigative clearance/background investigation

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.The employee shall work at the government's place of performance with part-time/situational telecommuting up to three days per week with government approval.The employee is expected to perform during the normal duty hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM EDT, Monday through Friday, with the exception of Federal Government holidays, with an allowance for a one-hour lunch period each day.Occasionally, the employee may be required to perform and/or provide services outside the normal hours of duty.
