AFSCME 1111Under general supervision, performs a variety of clerical functions requiring discretion and independent judgment. These include patient registration, scheduling, and filing. Answers all calls and directs them to appropriate department. Contacts patients for follow up as needed. May act as lead worker, all duties are performed in a highly confidential manner.Typical DutiesProvides customer service to the patients, family, and significant otherVerifies patient information and registers patient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)Schedules patient appointment in EMRAssists patient with using patient portalDistributes information to patients as directed by clinical providersAssists patients with transportation needs and makes follow-up call, as neededParticipates in health center or departmental meetingsCopies and/or scans documents, as neededAnswers calls and routes them appropriatelySorts and distributes mailPrints and distributes depart/discharge documentsPerforms other duties as assigned

Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or G.E.D. certificate

is required

(must provide proof at time of interview)Two (2) years of clerical experience within a healthcare or customer service setting

is requiredAbility to type at a rate of 25 words per minute

is required (Typing test will be administered. 25 wpm with 90% minimum accuracy rate is required)

Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of patient registration database system

is preferredHospital registration experience

is preferredBilingual English/Spanish is

preferred
