WHAT IS THE INDEPENDENT OFFICE OF APPEALS (AP) DIVISION?A description of the business units can be found at:Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:Independent Office of AppealsCase and Operations SupportSpecialized Exam Prog and RefCollection AppealsExamination AppealsThe following are the duties of this position at the full working level:Holds conferences and negotiates issues with taxpayers/representative to resolve tax disputes in a fair and impartial manner.Advises and coaches team members regarding their team assignments.Communicates and fosters dialogue with peers, customers, and partners.Conditions of EmploymentTelework Eligible Positions : Telework eligible positions do not guarantee telework. Employees must meet and sustain IRS telework eligibility requirements.Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.Must successfully complete a background investigation.Employment of any candidate selected for this position may be conditional on classification and/or audit of federal tax returns.QualificationsYou must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service.OR
One year of graduate education in a related field of study.OR
Superior Academic Achievement may be met by having a Bachelor's degree.OR
Combination of qualifying graduate education and experience equal to that described above.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.OR
