Position Overview:

The Senior Project Architect is a pivotal role, providing leadership and mentorship to project teams throughout all phases of architectural projects. From initial concept design through to construction administration, the Sr. PA is responsible for guiding and overseeing the development of project documentation and design solutions in alignment with company standards and industry best practices. The Sr. PA typically assumes the role of Document Team Leader, ensuring that all project documentation is meticulously developed and coordinated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take on project management duties, including client and consultant interactions, meeting facilitation, and ongoing communication.
  • Coordinate project tasks from the design inception through to construction administration, ensuring adherence to project goals and timelines.
  • Define and document project requirements based on extensive research, discussions with the Project Manager (PM), Principal-in-Charge (PIC), Lead Designer, and client input.
  • Develop innovative design solutions that address client needs, incorporating project complexities, budget constraints, and vision.
  • Partner with the design team to create cohesive project designs that align with client objectives and expectations.
  • Provide expert technical insights on material choices and design strategies that enhance project feasibility and cost-efficiency.
  • Supervise the preparation of technical documentation, including drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with company standards for all project phases.
  • Oversee the creation of a comprehensive project product manual documenting all design decisions and changes.
  • Interface with structural, electrical, and mechanical consultants to ensure effective coordination and integration of architectural and engineering documentation.
  • Conduct meetings with engineers and consultants to align architectural designs with engineering requirements.
  • Prepare and review code analyses for projects to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
  • Manage construction administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), site inspections, and necessary document modifications.
  • Define project documentation requirements and communicate these to Project Team leaders to facilitate the creation of milestone schedules.
  • Complete thorough code analysis and verify that all documentation adheres to applicable codes and standards.
  • Manage the documentation budget and develop a detailed work plan for the document team, delegating tasks effectively.
  • Monitor documentation efforts to ensure alignment with company’s hours and budget allocations.
  • Ensure timely completion of documentation tasks in accordance with the overall project schedule.
  • Lead the documentation team, including both company staff and consultant team members, to meet project milestones and maintain quality.
  • Report weekly progress to the Project Manager and identify any submittals for review during the construction administration phase.
  • Approve any deviations from contract documents and assist in necessary document modifications.
  • Ensure the quality of all drawings and specifications and oversee consultant coordination to align documentation with design intent.
  • Assemble final project documentation and input space allocations into the Project Journal upon project completion.
  • Assist in conducting Quality Control reviews and ensure compliance with local and state building codes.
  • Identify and address potential conflicts within the project documentation.
  • Support new business development by participating in proposal and interview processes. Contribute to the development and presentation of materials, drawings, and models.
  • Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned or requested.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) or Master of Architecture (MArch) degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in architecture with substantial supervisory and management experience.
  • Licensed Architect with professional registration.
  • Proficiency in advanced computer and information management systems, particularly Revit.
