Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Staff Accountant with a strong background in the engineering industry. The candidate will play a crucial role in our financial team, providing key insights and analysis to support the company's strategic decision-making process. This position is not for the faint-hearted; it offers a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same. Our ideal candidate will be a meticulous, detail-oriented individual with a passion for numbers and a keen eye for financial irregularities.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will:

  1. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  2. Perform complex balance sheet and income statement analyses, identifying trends, variances, and potential areas of concern.
  3. Manage the accruals process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reflected in the financial statements.
  4. Prepare and post journal entries, maintaining detailed and organized records of all transactions.
  5. Conduct regular ledger reviews and reconciliations, resolving any discrepancies or irregularities promptly.
  6. Assist with internal and external audits, providing all necessary documentation and explanations.
  7. Continuously review and improve financial processes and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  8. Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support informed decision-making.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting standards, implementing necessary changes in internal processes.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Staff Accountant position will have the following qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the engineering industry.
  3. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables, and macros.
  4. Strong understanding of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  5. Experience with accruals, journal entries, and ledger management.
  6. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  7. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors and discrepancies in financial data.
  8. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  9. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  10. CPA certification is a plus.
