Salary: $150,000 - $250,000 per year

We are actively recruiting for an experienced landlord-tenant attorney for our client's Manhattan offices. This career opportunity is with well-respected New York City real estate firm that participates in all areas of complex real estate litigation, trial, and transactions including landlord-tenant disputes (commercial and residential), appellate litigation, condominium & cooperative representation, mortgage financing and banking, housing discrimination, land use, construction litigation and administrative proceedings among others.

We are seeking an attorney with 3 recent years of experience in a busy real estate law practice handling substantive litigation responsibilities from pleadings to trial for landlord-tenant matters. Previous experience with written and oral advocacy in state Supreme courts or federal court is strongly preferred. Appellate experience is also welcome, but not required. You will have significant client interaction from day one and be trusted to work autonomously to push cases forward. Interested candidates should be able to confidently handle all pre-trial aspects of complex real estate litigations including initial pleadings, discovery, researching and drafting motions, attending court conferences and making motion appearances, and taking/defending depositions. There is no billable requirement for this role.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide written and oral advocacy for clients in court when litigation arises
• Offer mediation and negotiation services to resolve disputes outside of court
• Maintain current knowledge about the specific laws and regulations that apply to New York real estate law

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in complex real estate litigation or similar practice area. Trial and appellate experience strongly preferred
• Previous experience representing clients in state Supreme Court or federal court
• Admitted to New York State Bar
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
• Demonstrated history of success in complex litigation
• Strong negotiating, drafting and legal research skills
