Job Details:

Our prestigious Engineering firm is seeking a talented and experienced Permanent Project Accountant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of multiple projects, ensuring all financial data is accurate, up-to-date and in compliance with relevant legislation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the company's financial success. The candidate will be in direct contact with project managers, providing them with financial insights that will help shape strategic decisions and ensure the profitability and financial health of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage all financial aspects of multiple projects, including revenue, costs, cash flow, and financial reporting.
  2. Utilize NetSuite to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  3. Prepare and present financial statements, detailing the financial status of projects.
  4. Perform account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  5. Analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization.
  6. Understand and apply project accounting and cost accounting principles.
  7. Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and forecasts.
  8. Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  9. Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  10. Assist in the development and implementation of processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting and control.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or CPA is a plus.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting, cost accounting or a related field, preferably within the engineering industry.
  3. Proficiency in NetSuite or a similar accounting software is mandatory.
  4. Solid understanding of financial statements, revenue, cost, reporting, cash flow, account reconciliation, project accounting, cost accounting, and financial accounting.
  5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial data to non-financial colleagues.
  7. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  10. Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  11. Familiarity with engineering industry standards and regulations is a plus.
