Job Details:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permanent Project Accountant to join our dynamic construction team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, where you will be an integral part of managing the financial aspects of our construction projects. You will be responsible for the financial tracking of projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and playing a pivotal role in the success of our construction projects. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting and a deep understanding of the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage all financial aspects of construction projects from inception to completion.
2. Coordinate with project managers to develop project budgets, monitor project costs, and ensure projects are completed within budget.
3. Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including project profitability reports, WIP reports, and other project-related financial reports.
4. Conduct account reconciliation regularly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
5. Review and approve construction pay applications and change orders.
6. Monitor project progress, analyze project performance data, and provide financial forecasts.
7. Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, including percentage of completion method for revenue recognition.
8. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial audits related to construction projects.
9. Use Sage software to manage and track project costs and financial data.
10. Collaborate with other team members to improve financial processes and systems.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Proficiency in accounting software, specifically Sage.
4. Solid understanding of construction WIP and percentage of completion.
5. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including account reconciliation.
6. Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
7. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
10. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
11. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.
