Job Details

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Land Use, Zoning, and Eminent Domain Attorney to join our team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in land use and zoning regulations, as well as expertise in condemnation and eminent domain law, to effectively represent clients in various real estate and development projects.

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on land use, zoning, and eminent domain matters, including rezoning applications, variances, and the implications of property condemnation by governmental entities.
  • Represent clients, including developers, property owners, and businesses, in negotiations and proceedings related to eminent domain and condemnation, ensuring fair compensation and addressing the impact on property rights.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of local, state, and federal laws governing zoning, land use, and eminent domain to support client projects and litigation efforts.
  • Negotiate and draft legal documents, including zoning applications, development agreements, and compensation claims related to condemnation proceedings.
  • Advocate for clients in administrative hearings and court proceedings, including litigation concerning disputes over property valuation and the legality of government takings.
  • Collaborate with urban planners, engineers, and local government officials to navigate zoning ordinances and facilitate project development while minimizing the risk of condemnation.
  • Stay informed about changes in land use, zoning, and eminent domain laws and policies that may affect clients and their properties.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Georgia State Bar and active membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in land use, zoning, and eminent domain law, with a proven track record of successful representation in these areas.
  • Strong understanding of local government processes and experience working with city and county commissions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
