Job Title: Payroll Processor

Location: Rockville, Maryland

Department: Payroll/HR

Reports To: Payroll Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Processor with expertise in ADP and multi-state payroll processing to join our team. The Payroll Processor will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees across multiple states, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and experience managing payroll through ADP systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Process bi-weekly and/or semi-monthly payroll for multi-state employees using ADP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Review and validate timekeeping records, wage adjustments, and other payroll-related information.

Calculate wages, deductions, benefits, bonuses, and commissions according to company policies and state-specific regulations.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including filing payroll taxes and managing garnishments and deductions.

Address and resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

Manage year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution.

Ensure payroll records are maintained accurately and confidentially, following internal control procedures.

Collaborate with the HR department to ensure employee data is accurate and up to date.

Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management in a timely and professional manner.

Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews.

Qualifications:

Bachelors preferred.

Minimum of 2-4 years of payroll processing experience, specifically in multi-state payroll.

Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll processing software.

In-depth knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll regulations and tax laws.

Experience with garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification.

Experience with payroll audits and compliance.
