Job Details

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Paralegal to join our team, focusing on land use and zoning projects on the litigation side.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in managing complex litigation cases, particularly within the realms of land use, zoning, and real estate law.

This role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently, provide comprehensive litigation support to attorneys, and ensure compliance with all legal procedures and regulations.

  • Provide advanced paralegal support to attorneys specializing in land use and zoning litigation, including case management, document preparation, and filing.
  • Conduct thorough legal research, compile and analyze case law, zoning ordinances, land use regulations, and other relevant statutes.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, motions, and discovery requests, ensuring all documents adhere to court rules and filing requirements.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, deposition summaries, and trial binders.
  • Coordinate and manage communications with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties involved in litigation matters.
  • Maintain case files and databases, ensuring all records are accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible.
  • Conduct due diligence and assist with investigations related to zoning and land use disputes, including gathering and analyzing evidence.
  • Support attorneys during hearings, mediations, and trials as needed, including attending court sessions and taking detailed notes.
  • Monitor and track deadlines, court dates, and deliverables to ensure timely and accurate filings.
  • Stay updated on changes in zoning and land use laws, as well as relevant legal precedents impacting current and future cases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a legal or paralegal studies program.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a paralegal, with a strong focus on land use, zoning, and litigation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Georgia state and local zoning laws, land use regulations, and court procedures.
  • Proven experience in managing complex litigation cases from inception to resolution.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and writing skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Paralegal certification from an accredited program.
  • Experience working in a law firm or legal department specializing in local government, real estate, land use, or zoning law.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery tools and electronic filing systems used in Georgia courts.
