Job DetailsJob Details:
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Staff Accountant to join our team in the legal industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional who is ready to make a substantial impact within our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers, preparing and analyzing budgets, and performing general bookkeeping. The position requires a candidate with a strong background in accounting, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for financial accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the day-to-day financial operations of the organization including A/R, A/P, payroll, general ledger, banking, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management.
- Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks including data entry and operations.
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Liaise with our financial management team to improve financial procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the legal industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial principles, laws, and best practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus.
