Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 per year

We are a well-established and growing Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) organization based in the vibrant Chicago market.

This is a remote, individual contributor (Hunter mentality) opportunity with travel involved in the Midwest region and eventually into West Coast. We're seeking someone who can break into new accounts, and build the Midwest region up.

We're ideally seeking a candidate that is located Illinois or the surrounding States.

Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Director of Sales with a strong background in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sector, particularly within the manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in business development, food manufacturing, and retail/wholesale distribution. This role demands an in-depth understanding of the pizza, baked goods, bakery, and cheese markets, as well as expertise in managing private label products.

As the Permanent Director of Sales, you will:

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand the company's customer base in both retail and wholesale sectors.
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities.
  • Lead the sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement product strategies.
  • Oversee the private label product portfolio.
  • Provide market feedback to company leadership on competitive offerings and prospect needs, generating product development ideas.
  • Navigate complex business processes and act as a liaison between customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with CA food handling and safety standards.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a sales leadership role within the CPG industry, specifically in food manufacturing.
  • A proven track record of achieving sales growth and business development objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge of the pizza, frozen foods, baked goods, bakery, and cheese markets.
  • Experience in managing retail and wholesale distribution channels.
  • Proficiency in managing packaged goods, and private label products.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills at all organizational levels.
  • A solid understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • A valid CA food handler certification.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to close deals.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
