Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Denver, Colorado

Department: Accounting

Reports To: Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our accounting team at our client, a government contractor specializing in government contractors. The Staff Accountant will assist in managing day-to-day financial operations, supporting the preparation of financial statements, and ensuring compliance with federal contracting regulations, including FAR and CAS. This role will handle tasks related to general ledger accounting, invoicing, and cost reporting, with a focus on accuracy and adherence to government contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial records.

Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and other reports.

Prepare and submit invoices for government contracts in accordance with contract terms and FAR regulations.

Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Monitor and track costs to ensure compliance with government regulations (FAR, CAS).

Assist in audits, including DCAA audits, and provide necessary documentation.

Review and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

Support financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.

Ensure adherence to internal controls and company accounting policies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a government contracting environment.

Knowledge of FAR, CAS, and DCAA regulations preferred.

Experience with accounting software (e.g., Costpoint, Deltek) is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.
