The College of Education is seeking candidates for the position of Director of UI WILD to plan, develop, promote, and lead strategy and operations of the UI WILD programs (Iowa Raptor Project, Iowa Wildlife Camps and School of the Wild). This position will build collaborative partnerships within and outside the University to advance the mission of the College of Education and UI WILD in conservation, outreach and outdoor education and provide a clear vision and direction for UI WILD. This position supports continuous improvement efforts by creating and maintaining sustainable and innovative programming for UI WILD.Some travel will be required within the state of Iowa and to program locations.

Responsibilities:Oversee the overall operations of the UI WILD and its programs, including staffing, budget and financial oversight, licensing, compliance, assets, partnerships, and strategic direction.Work with directors overseeing programs to plan, develop, promote and implement research and educational programs that engage and develop students and community members.Develop partnerships and collaborations across campus, with school districts, and the state of Iowa, as well as with national and international programs and projects.Develop and implement strategic vision that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.Oversee multiple compliances and risk mitigation in collaboration with the program directors.Oversee the evaluation and assessment of UI WILD and its programs.Oversee the coordination and implementation of risk management needs, waiver forms and medical forms as required by the UI and department.To obtain the full job description including key areas of responsibility, technical competencies, and desirable qualifications, please contact Alex-Schutman@uiowa.edu.Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related education and relevant work experience. Typical minimum experience is 5 years.

Required Qualifications:Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so.Experience in organizational leadership and management as well as the capacity to inspire excellence in others.Evidence of successful experience defining and communicating organizational vision and guiding effective strategic planning.Experience in budget development and implementation.Demonstrated skills in communicating with internal and external stakeholders, such as faculty, administrators, staff, students, and parents.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage, and prioritize multiple projects.Experience in environmental education or conservation work.
