Job Summary:

The Senior Plant Controller will serve as a key financial leader at the manufacturing facility, responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and labor costing. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with both plant operations and corporate finance teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a manufacturing environment and be comfortable with occasional travel to other plant locations or corporate headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Accounting:

Lead the cost accounting process, including standard cost setting, variance analysis, and cost control initiatives.

Develop, implement, and monitor cost control procedures to ensure the plant operates within budget.

Analyze production costs and work closely with operations to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.

Inventory Accounting:

Oversee all inventory accounting activities, including month-end inventory reconciliations, adjustments, and reporting.

Ensure accurate and timely valuation of inventory, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

Conduct regular physical inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accuracy.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Ensure compliance with all corporate accounting policies and procedures, as well as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support decision-making at the plant and corporate levels.

Labor Costing:

Develop and maintain labor costing models, including direct and indirect labor.

Analyze labor costs and work with HR and operations to optimize workforce efficiency.

Track and report on key labor metrics, including overtime, productivity, and labor variances.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Lead the annual budgeting process for the plant, including preparation of detailed forecasts and financial plans.

Monitor actual performance against budget and forecasts, providing variance analysis and corrective actions as needed.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

Ensure strong internal controls are in place and adhered to in all financial processes.

Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of any findings or recommendations.

Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance at the plant level.

Business Partnering:

Act as a financial business partner to the Plant Manager and other operational leaders, providing financial guidance and support.

Participate in cross-functional teams focused on process improvements, cost savings, and operational efficiencies.

Travel Requirements:

Travel to other plant locations or corporate headquarters as needed to collaborate with other finance and operations teams, conduct audits, or support projects.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

Proven expertise in cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and labor costing.

Skills:

Strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.

Other:

Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
