Job Details:

We are currently on the hunt for an experienced and dynamic Permanent Controller with a focus on Multifamily Property Accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting activities for a portfolio of multifamily properties. This exciting role is at the heart of our finance industry operations and is perfect for a proactive, detail-oriented, and strategic professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

As a Permanent Controller, your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Overseeing all accounting operations for a portfolio of multifamily properties, including AP, AR, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
2. Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
3. Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.
4. Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
5. Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
6. Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
7. Coordinating the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
8. Liaising with the management team to make informed economic and business decisions.
9. Monitoring debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
10. Working closely with property managers and corporate management to provide financial insight and recommendations.

Qualifications:

The perfect candidate for the Permanent Controller - Multifamily Property Accounting role will possess the following qualifications:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or CPA qualification is highly desirable.
2. A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the finance industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
3. Proven experience in managing accounting functions for multifamily properties.
4. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including AP, AR, and GL.
5. Experience with creating financial statements and financial reporting.
6. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
7. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
8. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
10. A proactive approach, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and make critical decisions under pressure.
