Job Description
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior Human Resources Generalist. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Director of Human Resources.
The position will be located at the System Administration Office in Reno, NV.
NSHE is comprised of eight institutions :
two universities, a state university, four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.
This is a new position within the NSHE Office of Human Resources.
The Senior Human Resources Generalist reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and administers a wide variety of human resources functions, including records management, payroll transactions, electronic contracts within the Workday system, leave and time off, new hire and benefits orientations, benefits management, assist with classification and compensation reviews, manage recruitment and talent acquisition efforts, assist with employee relations, support evaluation processes and assist with internal and external reporting requirements. The Senior Human Resources Generalist provides human resources support to System Administration, and System Computing Services.
SALARY GRADE
:
Grade C (starting salary range approximately $75,000.00 to $85,000.00; depending on experience). A benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and retirement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must have earned a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution three (3) years of progressive relatable experience in human resources (or) Associate's degree with five (5) years of progressive relatable experience in human resources (or) ten (10) years of progressive experience in human resources directly related to the position.
Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.

The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility:
Job Descriptions -
Monitor status of current classified NPD-19's and professional PDQ's to ensure compliance for all NSHE personnel. Oversee revisions and updates as needed. Receive and track job descriptions, provide initial review for the Director, and finalize for processing. Ensure new hires receive job descriptions and facilitate signature process.Performance Evaluations -
Coordinate with Director to execute the notifications, completion, and receipt of performance evaluations for both classified and professional employees.Recruitment and Talent Acquisition -
Responsible for coordinating, initiating, and overseeing the NSHE recruitments and collaborating with BCN for classified recruitments. Assist the Director with the evaluating search materials that are received by SA or SCS departments. When materials are finalized, post announcements to Workday and other external advertising sites. Serve as search coordinator and Initiate communication to search chairs and committee members regarding steps in the search process and prompt review of minimum qualifications, committee ratings, and interviews. Communicate search progress to Director on regular basis.Compensation and Classification -
Receive and track requests for position changes. Conduct initial review of classification and compensation for the Director. Aid the Director with the salary administration processes, including development of merit distribution plans, COLA, and documentation for promotions and salary adjustments.Employee Relations -
Assist Director when needed with highly confidential and legal personnel issues. Assist with Director with conflict resolution when needed.Workday -
Responsible for day-to-day management of Workday system records; ensuring employee, position and compensation data are consistently correct. Oversee the annual processing and renewal of professional employees' electronic contracts. Assist Director in serving as NSHE's point of contact for business process input and function as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for multiple roles within the Workday, including participation in online meetings and discussions.Training -
Aid Director in coordinating mandatory supervisory training and administer training programs through available the Learning Management System (LMS), including the prevention of sexual harassment and anti-discrimination/anti-bias training, as well as any other mandatory/regulatory training(s) required for all employees.Special Projects -
As assigned by Director.Establish and maintain processes and systems to effectively manage payroll, electronic contracts, employee data, and records for administrative professional, classified, temporary and student employees.Analyze complex processes in order to recommend and implement continuous process improvement.Prepare all personnel/payroll transactions in Workday; ensuring all required documents are included or attached in the business processes.Responsible for collaboration with HR Director to develop policies and procedures for file management and records retention.Responsible for conducting and monitoring new employee hiring processes within Workday. Provide communication and assistance with electronic onboarding. Meet with new hires in person, virtually, or over the phone to conduct benefits orientation and respond to any questions or concerns they may have.Communicate and coordinate with SCS Support Desk to initiate and expedite computer access and technology needs for new employees.Organize and maintain an efficient records management system, including employee files.Coordinate July contract renewal, Longevity payments, and Retention Incentive payments utilizing EIB processes for Workday.Attend and participate in committee meetings for groups, such as HCM Users Group, HCM Absence Management, HCM Update Calls, system wide initiatives, PEBP Board meetings, PERS Liaison Trainings, and other committees as determined by the Director.Conduct new hire benefits orientation. Provide details for all insurance and benefit products and instructions for enrollment in Workday or PEBP's online, E-PEBP tool.Serve as leave administrator; Time Off and Leave of Absence processes in Workday, FMLA and Catastrophic LeaveCoordinate PEBP Open Enrollment; prepare communication and conduct NSHE Open Enrollment meeting(s).Coordinate RPA Retirement vendor counseling sessions; distribute meeting information. Participate in "Retirement Knowledge Group Meetings."Responsible for the receipt and completion of external data requests such as VETS 4212, SHEEO, IPEDS, NSHE Catastrophic Leave Report, CHRONICLE of HIGHER ED, and other internal and external data requests. Coordinate the completion of the NSHE AA/EEO annual report.
