Cedar Hill Regional Medical CenterDirector of Engineering/Plant OperationsWhen open in early 2025, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health will be the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years! This teaching hospital will integrate clinical care with existing providers, The George Washington University Hospital, and the Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This clinical integration will establish a robust system of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.This full-service hospital will include 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a community space, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transports.The

Director of Engineering/Plant Operations

plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the operations of the Engineering, Maintenance and Grounds departments.Serves in the role of Safety Officer for the hospital.Maintains compliance with applicable regulatory agency requirements, including: The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State and Local agencies, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), etc.Manages staff and contractors to ensure and maintain the efficient and safe operation of all hospital buildings.Develops, maintains, and reviews all departmental and regulatory policies and procedures and all regulatory (Plant Operations) manuals.Plans, projects, maintains and oversees the repair of building and equipment, including scheduled maintenance.Utilizes energy management and tracking tools to maintain efficient utility operations.Maintains an acceptable preventive maintenance program with acceptable completion rates.Develops and manages operating and capital budgets. Effectively manages long range capital infrastructure replacements. Keeps equipment lists up to date and works with hospital finance and Regional Finance to budget and complete replacement projects.Manages design, construction, and infrastructure projects.May also manage the Biomedical Engineering, Safety and Security departments.To learn more visit

Education Requirements:Minimum of High School Diploma and degree or certification in a technical trade or field related to facility maintenance and engineering required.Bachelor’s degree preferred.Experience:5 years of previous hospital engineering management experience.Facilities experience in an acute care or related setting. Progressive management level experience. Thorough knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, Joint Commission and CMS standards, OSHA, EPA and state and local codes and standards.Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and Building Management Systems.Experience or working knowledge in all aspects of building trades, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry.Previous project management experience.Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).License / Certification:Current Certified Healthcare Facility Manager certification.Valid driver’s license.Travel Requirements:
