Overview of Role:

The Tax Director will report directly to the Head of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer. The position requires strong analytical, written and verbal communication, and tasking skills, along with extensive knowledge of federal, state and local income taxes. The candidate must be a “hands-on” self-starter who can function as a “go-to” person whether dealing with members of the tax group or other people in the company including finance, human resources, legal, R&D and IT, as well as external advisors/auditors. The candidate must be able to work effectively on a small, friendly, collaborative team in a casually intense environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

Prepare, manage, and/or review income tax provision calculation, including effective tax rate, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowance, journal entries, footnote disclosures, etc.

Manage, and/or review US international tax calculations including GILTI, etc.

Research complex tax issues and document procedures/conclusions

Prepare and/or review budget ETR, cash tax forecast, etc.

Review of Research and Development credit calculation

Review tax returns and related extensions/estimates

Provide support and/or manage IRS audits

Assess tax legislation and developments for impact on our business

Lead, train, and develop managers, and senior manager

Assist or manage other ad hoc/special projects (e.g., Section 382 study, credit study, tax planning, M&A, sales/use/withholding tax assistance, review business contracts, etc.) as needed

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Minimum ten years of recent experience in US corporate income tax with a combination of Big Four corporate tax department. Recent experience with ASC 740 is required.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience

CPA or post-graduate study in Taxation preferred

Ability to solve unique and complex problems that broadly impact the function and/or broader department

Advanced critical thinking and decision-making skills

Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks appropriately, meet deadlines, execute with accuracy, and recognize when issues need escalation

A team player with excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment, including being flexible to geographic time zones

Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills

Experience with Research and Development credit calculation

Experience with intercompany foreign and domestic transfer pricing and legal entity reporting

Experience with tax modeling and scenario planning

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Experience with tax software and e-filing

Experience with ERP systems

The pay range for this role is $160,000 to $197,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable variable compensation. The successful candidate will also be eligible for health benefits, 401(k) with 6% employer match from day one, ESPP with a 15% discount up to the federal limit, flexible spending account among other benefits compensation.
