Position Description:
The Desktop Technician Tier 2 provides desktop operations support for personal computers, laptop computers, and associated peripherals. This position is performed on-site.
Minimum/General Experience:
5 years of desktop support experience
Minimum Education:
High School; DOD 8570 Compliance IAT Level II (Security + CE certification) or higher (required); Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation v4 (preferred)
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
Above average knowledge of workstation administration and management (e.g., imaging)
Experience with basic network support including account administration in Active Directory environment
Experience with all standard Microsoft (MS) Office software systems and MS Project
Ability to gain internal support and to operate independently without supervision
Ability to establish a working relationship with customers, technical staff, managers, and peers
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of Remedy or other trouble ticket software (preferred)
Experience with government cell phone support (preferred)
Security : Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Clearance - Public Trust Tier 3 Investigation
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident

Consists of a review of up to but not limited to:
Covers 5-10 year period and in some instances lifetime events
OPM Security Investigations Index (SII)
DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII)
National Agency Check (NAC) records
FBI name check
FBI fingerprint check
Credit report check
A check of local law enforcement agencies with jurisdiction over the areas where the applicant has lived, worked, or attended school
Education check- Attendance and Degrees
Employment verification -may include interviews of supervisors and/or co-workers
Corroboration of unemployment.
May include reference interviews
May include interviews of the individual, former spouse (s)
Confirmation of all residences
Verification of public record information
Tasks/activities include, but are not limited to:
Interfaces with the client daily
Addresses and troubleshoots hardware, software, and connection issues
Supports vendor software products (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, Roxio)
Resolves problems through customer education, training, and direct assistance
Serves as the initial point of contact for troubleshooting information technology (IT) problems (e.g., hardware, software, passwords, printer problems)
Ensures backup, recovery, and data restoration from workstations during upgrades or diagnosed system problems
Supports peripheral issues (e.g., formatting for printing)
Supports phone and in-person support for various systems (e.g., email, local area network (LAN)/wide area network (WAN), user account administration, Active Directory, standard desktop images and applications, commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS) and government off-the-shelf software (GOTS) applications)
