Associate Attorney
with
5+ years of civil trial experience . The position will involve extensive trial work, requiring a candidate who is skilled in litigating complex cases, and representing plaintiffs in high-stakes personal injury and wrongful death matters.Job Responsibilities:
Conduct all phases of
civil litigation , including
discovery ,
depositions ,
motion practice ,
settlement negotiations , and
trial preparation .Lead
trial advocacy , including presenting evidence, examining witnesses, and delivering closing arguments in civil trial proceedings.Draft, file, and argue
pleadings ,
motions , and
briefs
in state and federal courts.Engage in
settlement negotiations
with opposing counsel and insurance companies to obtain the best possible outcome for clients.Conduct
legal research
and write memoranda on complex legal issues related to personal injury and wrongful death claims.Collaborate with expert witnesses, including medical professionals and accident reconstructionists, to build strong cases for trial.Provide ongoing legal advice and strategic guidance to clients, ensuring clear communication and transparency throughout the litigation process.Attend
court hearings ,
mediations ,
arbitrations , and
other legal proceedings
to advocate for clients.Stay updated on changes in
civil litigation laws
to ensure clients receive the most current legal representation.Requirements:
Minimum of
5+ years of civil trial experience .Proven ability to handle
trial work , including leading cases through all phases of litigation, from initial intake to verdict.Excellent oral and written communication skills , with the ability to present complex legal arguments effectively in court.Strong
research
and
writing skills
for preparing high-quality legal documents and trial materials.Organizational skills
with the ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.Negotiation skills
to effectively advocate for clients during settlement discussions and mediations.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team of legal professionals.Education:
Juris Doctor (JD)
degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the
Illinois State Bar
is required.Certifications (Preferred):
Trial Advocacy Certification
or other relevant certifications in
litigation
are beneficial but not required.Key Skills:
Expertise in
civil litigation .Trial experience , with a demonstrated ability to manage cases through all litigation phases.Strong
