A law firm based in Chicago, IL is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling workers' compensation cases from inception through trial and appeal, with opportunities to collaborate with the firm’s civil litigation department if desired. The firm offers a flexible, comfortable work environment, competitive compensation, and a full range of benefits.Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent clients in workers' compensation cases from initial filing through trial and appeal.Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery responses.Attend and represent clients in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.Communicate and negotiate with opposing counsel, clients, and insurance adjusters.Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to legal strategy.Manage a fair caseload independently, with support as needed.Provide updates and advice to clients throughout the litigation process.Work with the firm’s civil litigation department as opportunities arise, expanding legal exposure to other areas.RequirementsMust be licensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing.1+ years of experience litigating workers' compensation claims.Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other attorneys.Strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills.Excellent personal interaction and communication skills.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.CertificationsLicensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing with the Illinois Bar.Skills and QualificationsProven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.Proficiency in legal research tools and technology.Strong negotiation and client communication skills.Ability to provide well-reasoned legal advice and anticipate client needs.Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to handle cases from inception through appeal with minimal supervision.Benefits OfferedCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.401(k) plan with employer contribution.Bonus opportunities based on performance.Flexible working environment, promoting work-life balance.
