A law firm in Florham Park, NJ is seeking an experienced
Insurance Defense Associate Attorney
to join their litigation team. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in handling insurance defense matters, including all aspects of pre-trial discovery. The role requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a strong ability to work independently, and active bar admission in New Jersey. New York Bar Admission is considered a plus but not required. The successful candidate will manage complex cases, collaborate with clients, and handle high-stakes litigation.Key ResponsibilitiesPre-trial Discovery : Manage all aspects of pre-trial discovery, including document production, depositions, interrogatories, and motions.Case Management : Independently handle a caseload of insurance defense matters, from inception to resolution.Legal Research and Writing : Conduct thorough legal research, prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, and memoranda.Client Interaction : Work closely with clients to develop legal strategies, update them on case progress, and provide legal advice on insurance defense matters.Court Appearances : Represent clients in court, including attending hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.Trial Preparation : Collaborate with senior attorneys to prepare cases for trial, including developing defense strategies, drafting legal documents, and participating in witness preparation.Settlement Negotiations : Engage in negotiations to resolve matters through settlement when appropriate, balancing client goals with litigation strategy.Collaboration : Work closely with other attorneys and legal staff to ensure comprehensive representation and defense in complex insurance litigation cases.Requirements5-8 years of experience
litigating insurance defense matters, with demonstrated ability to manage cases independently.Significant experience in
handling all aspects of pre-trial discovery , including drafting discovery requests and responses, taking depositions, and preparing discovery motions.Strong
written and oral communication skills
for drafting persuasive legal documents and presenting arguments in court.Ability to work autonomously while managing multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced litigation environment.Demonstrated ability to develop legal strategies and advise clients on complex insurance defense matters.EducationJuris Doctor (JD)
from an accredited law school is required.Certifications and Bar AdmissionNew Jersey Bar Admission is required .New York Bar Admission is helpful
but not mandatory.SkillsStrong
legal research and analytical skills
