A law firm is seeking a highly qualified Mid-Level Product Design and User Interface Patent Agent to join their team in Saint Louis, MO. This position will focus on patent preparation and prosecution related to various innovative technologies, including software, artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, and quantum technologies. The ideal candidate must demonstrate expertise in patent law, engineering, and communication, as well as possess strong industry experience. The role requires collaboration with engineers, inventors, and legal professionals to secure intellectual property rights for cutting-edge technologies.Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct patent preparation and prosecution with a focus on software, AI, IoT, networking, and quantum technologies.Collaborate closely with clients, inventors, and internal teams to develop and protect intellectual property related to product design and user interfaces.Draft high-quality patent applications, ensuring compliance with USPTO regulations and standards.Analyze and respond to USPTO office actions, providing strategic recommendations for patent approval.Conduct thorough patent searches and analyze prior art to assess the patentability of inventions.Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.Participate in client meetings and discussions to gather detailed technical information for patent filings.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior patent agents or attorneys on patent prosecution processes.Stay current on new laws, legal decisions, and trends in intellectual property, particularly in software, AI, and quantum technologies.Job Requirements:

Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in patent preparation and prosecution.JD and admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) are required.Proven experience in handling patents related to software, AI, IoT, networking, and/or quantum technologies.Education and Certifications:

A degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field is required.A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the USPTO is required.Preferred Experience:

Experience in patent preparation and prosecution for software-related technologies.Familiarity with artificial intelligence, IoT, networking, and/or quantum technologies.Proven ability to work on patent applications for product design and user interfaces.Skills and Competencies:

Strong academic background and high level of academic achievement.Superb writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.Detail-oriented and committed to producing high-quality legal documents.
